Congratulations to our
Employees of the Month !
    DeLayna Elbon was chosen
Employee of the Month for December
2008 for her dedication to the clients
of Sequoyah County.  DeLayna
manages the office in Sallisaw in a
friendly and accommodating manner.  
She runs our Choices General Store
assisting clients with food, drinks,
clothing and other items as available.  
She also helps clients with their rent
and utility payments through the
Emergency Food and Shelter
Program.  She process applications for
the weatherization program, Bridges
Out of Poverty program and RX
Oklahoma where uninsured or under
insured people receive free or reduced
price prescriptions.
   In addition to her regular duties,
DeLayna is always willing to go the
extra mile by volunteering in other
activities promoting community action.
   DeLayna represents Cookson Hills
Community Action very well and we are
pleased to name her as the Employee
of the Month.
Donald Hodges - November 2008
   Donald "Donny" Hodges was chosen
to be the Employee of the Month of
Cookson Hills Community Action for
November 2008.  Donny is a driver for
the agency and stays busy delivering
food and supplies from the Food Bank
in Tulsa to the different Choices
General Stores operated by Cookson
Hills Community Action.
   Donny is very involved in the
Bridges Out of Poverty program
making deliveries and following up with
periodic inspections to make sure they
are in compliance.
   When not making deliveries or
inspections, Donny sees to the
maintenance of our vehicles and helps
with whatever needs done.  Donny is
always willing to work the hours
necessary to get the job done and is a
volunteer for extra activities our
agency is involved with.
   Congratulations Donny!
    Susan Henson, accountant for
Cookson Hills Community Action, was
selected as the Employee of the Month
for January 2009.
In the midst of her very busy days of
over-seeing payroll, accounts payable
and the many monthly reports to the
Department of Commerce, HUD and
other funding agencies, Susan always
makes time to help those who may
need assistance with their budgets or
with policies.
   Susan has volunteered in book fairs
and special Christmas events.  She
also volunteered at the Foster
Grandparent Fall Recognition Event.

Karen Horn - February 2009
 Karen Horn was the recipient of the
Employee of the Month for February
2009.  Karen is the Programs
Coordinator for Cookson Hills
Community Action.  She views her
position as a supportive role for each
program offered by Cookson Hills.  
She is described by her fellow
employees as a team player who is
always there for you.  Karen is directly
involved in each program in  
administration.  She, along with
Executive Director Cleon Harrell,
directly supervises the VISTA program,
Choices General Store, Emergency  
Assistance program and Bridges Out
of Poverty.  She has volunteered in
several special events, updated the
website and writes the newsletter.
Jeannie Clinton - April 2009
  Kim Brown was selected Employee of
the Month for March 2009.  Kim is the
Disabilities Specialist for Cookson Hills
Community Action's Head Start Program.  
    She also serves as the Transportation
Specialist. She has represented CHCAF
in several events as a volunteer.
  Kim goes above and beyond her
normally expected duties by volunteering.
She was the team leader for CHCAF in
the Tahlequah Christmas Parade getting
several members of her family involved
too.  She took an active part in the
Foster Grandparent Spring Recognition
dinner helping to serve the meal and
doing the door prizes.  Kim has also
volunteered to help in different Senior
Citizen events, food/clothing give-aways
and during the Cherokee Nation Holiday
giving away books.
  Kim is an asset to both the Head Start
program and Cookson Hills Community
Action.
Kim Brown - March 2009
   Jeannie Clinton, Employee of the
Month of April 1009, has played a
very important role in making the
different departments of Cookson Hills
Community Action aware of all the
programs offered by CHCAF.  She
has helped promote the Foster
Grandparent program, our Choices
Sotre and the benefits of the
weatherization program.
   As Director of the Head Start
program, she was recently recognized
for her leadership by her team of
specialists "for your continued
support, understanding and
compassion.  Thank you for allowing
us to move this program forward and
reach for success in the future.
