Head Start offers income eligible and/or disabled children a pre-school education including
components such as nutrition, health, dental, mental health, social services and education in Adair,
Cherokee, Sequoyah and McIntosh counties. For more information...
FOSTER GRANDPARENT
The Foster Grandparent program is for persons 60 and older to help with children that need
special attention at local schools, day care centers and Head Start Centers in thirteen counties.

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE
The Emergency Assistance Program assists with emergency rent and utility payments with funding
provided by FEMA. Applicants must meet income guidelines.
WEATHERIZATION
The Weatherization program provides assistance by stopping air infiltration through the application
of caulk and weather-stripping and installing attic insulation. Applicants must meet income
guidelines.
VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE (VITA) PROGRAM
The VITA program provides income tax assistance from January through the middle of April. This
program offers free tax preparation and free electronic filing to those with annual incomes under
$37,000 and with basic tax returns
The tax filing centers for 2008 income will open in January of 2009.

SENIOR HOUSING
New apartments in Tahlequah and Hulbert for seniors 62 and above. There is a $60 utility
allowance and water and trash is paid. Your rent is based on your income less deductions. One

FINANCIAL PLANNING
The Financial Planning program provides use of and reconciliation of a checkbook, household
budgeting and basic computer training.
BRIDGES OUT OF POVERTY
With case management services, survival skills training and life skills training, we can assist you in
the decision making process to move you out of either type of poverty - generational or situational.
Let us provide you with special training to help you climb the ladder towards self independence and
personal pride.
